Audio MP3 Editor
A shareware mp3 audio editor. It's perfect for functions such as cropping, EQ, adding spacial effects and special effects. Audacity is the most popular program and is freeware, but this offers a free trial and has some more features. Use it to tweak your demos and tracks before uploading them.

The Palette, a melody composer.
This program claims to create melodies that conform to the rules of theory and voice leading. As a song writer, the idea of a computer program composing a melody fills me with horror. Then, again, though, sometimes a chance variation on a phrase I've been working on allows me to go in a new compositional direction.
That, I think, is the use of such a program. A scratchpad, to help me see my musical motifs in different shapes.
